2:27 Note: There are subtitles saying "Check this out. Your supporters". In fact, the only line that´s understandable is when someone asks a question saying "Já tá ali?", which means "Is it there already?", probably a reference to the length of the line.

 "I´ll deal with it the way I´ve always done. I think this is part of the job......"Then, translator starts speaking over him.

"I´m starting to get really mad, bro, to roll over him". Note: In this sense, "getting mad" actually means "to be insanely excited". It´s like saying "I can´t wait to roll over him".

Então, primeiramente, é uma grande luta. Gostei. Ricardo Lamas vem atravessando uma boa fase também, mas, como eu falei, eu vejo o Chad ainda sendo o número um da categoria. Então, eu vejo uma vitória do Chad Mendes. Futuramente, como eu te falei, eu acho que ele volta de novo porque ainda não vejo ninguém que possa bater ele (sic) ali na categoria. Ricardo sabe também promover a luta. Querendo ou não isso dá uma mexida na categoria. Eu acho que.... como eu te falei, minha categoria tava..... minhas próximas lutas seriam sempre uma revanche, mas, lógico que dá uma mexida... como o Ricardo Lamas fez um vídeo, muito engraçado, do Conor. Então espero que ele também dê uma brincada (sic) com o Chad, que dê uma esquentada, apimentada e que, futuramente, quando eu possa lutar com um dos dois, a luta seja uma grande luta também. Pelo menos de ator ele é campeão. Atuando, ele foi ótimo.

So, first of all, it is a great fight. I liked it (the matchup). Ricardo Lamas is going through a good streak too, but, as I told, I still see Chad as the number one in this division. So, I see (predict) a Chad Mendes´ victory. In the future, as I told you, I think he is coming back again (as top contender) because I still don´t see anyone who can beat him in the division. Ricardo also knows how to promote a fight. This shakes up the divison no matter what. I think.... as I told you.... my divison was.... my next fights would always be rematches, so this obviously shakes up the division.... like... Ricardo Lamas did a very funny vídeo on Conor. So, I hope he jokes with Chad as well, to heat things up and that, in the future, when I fight one of them it can be a great fight too. At least as an actor he is a champ. He was great acting.

MMA translations - Be aware of what fighters actually said

Properly translating what people mean can be a difficult task. In different occasions, from live interviews to online videos, translations tend to summarize interviewers´ words due to time limitations. However, some sentences, slangs and expressions require careful looking before being passed forward and it´s not uncommon to witness complete sloppyness either in subtitles or live translations. Misundestrandings are likely to occur and, as a result, they might lead to misjudgements and ultimately to false conclusions or analysis. As a huge MMA fan myself, I see this happening quite often within the MMA community when it comes to translating English to Portuguese and vice-versa. Brazil´s tradition in the sport is over the top and fans around the world want to know what brazilian figthers have to say. The goal here is to provide accurate translation through texts in both languages. It is challenging and I´m fully aware mistakes will be made but I´ll try my best to be as precise as possible. 

First of all, I`m submitting the translation of a very recent Jose Aldo interview to Megan Olivi just to show how I aim to work here. Then, I intend to translate everything that was said in Portuguese during the embedded series made by the UFC for the upcoming fight between José Aldo and Conor McGregor. After that I plan to select random videos I think people might be interested in and will be taking suggestions from readers as well.

So, if you want to know what a brazilian fighter, coach or any Portuguese speaker in the fight community ACTUALLY said in a given interview just send me the video or the bit you are interested in and I´ll post here the translation as soon as possible. Since I´m doing this in my spare time I just ask you for a little patience. Shorter videos will receive closer attention. You are more than welcome to provide inputs if you feel like doing it and if you come accross mistakes I might have made don´t hesitate to tell.
